It's Obvious that Matt Conrad enjoys sports. The Red Sox ball cap gives away his excitement as well as his future plans. Matt says his goal is to become a sports columnist and if he could pick the work place it would be ESPN. This may seem like an impossibility at times, but he has begun his journey to get there.
Studying at Linn Benton Community College to receive an associate degree before transferring to Oregon State University is his first goal. He's hoping to finish a Communication Degree at OSU and graduate with his Bachelors.
Matt admits he's also thought a lot about Law Enforcement. "Like my Dad." Matt comments, remembering his father coming home from work as a Policeman. For now, it seems this idea has been put on hold while he pursues new dreams. So off to college he went for Journalism.
When asked what he thinks about college life Matt responds, "Not anything like high school. A lot more freedom. Its a good thing though." College can be hard work and take a long time but Matt still has room for dreaming.
If he ventured away from Oregon he knows where he'd go. Matt does like Oregon but he absolutely loves Texas. Speaking of far away places, Matt has more than a few places he hopes to visit. Winning over all others are Ireland and Australia.
Being a College student makes these trips dreams that seem far off, but that's alright. Once he gets this dream job at ESPN the world will be his play ground. Dreams are good. For Matt, they have helped to make goals. Who knows? He may someday find himself in Australia covering sports for ESPN.
