Showing a map of the world is normal for a speaker unless the map is extremely distorted. President of Public Radio International, Alisa Miller is showing what our world looks like according to the news. At least, according to the time dedicated to each country in the news. The United States is the biggest country by far, taking up a whopping 79 percent of the news. In fact China, Russia, and India all together take up only 1 percent of the daily news, according to this map.

"So, why don't we know more about the world?" Miller asked her speechless audience. "The reality is that covering Britney is cheaper." She said, in reference to the pop culture icon. The international news network bureaus have drastically reduced in number because it's easier and cheaper to get the news from home.

Even on television, Miller remarked that only 12 percent of the news covers international territory. Millers concern for this discovery has to do with the future of America. College graduates and undergraduates know less about the world then their parents did 20 years ago, she says."I know we can do better and can we afford not to?"
